All The Way Home

Here we are!
Homeward Bound at last. My sister and I are excited to be headed back. I have to admit though. I miss college more and more. I'm miss the energy, the comradery, the speed, and the never-ending list of things to do. BUT, it's time for a new chapter.
This might be my last long stretch at home and I'm going to enjoy it.

Closing Social and Hats to Try On

Closing Social for the 16th Ward

That's it then! The semester is officially coming to a close. I'm in the throws of final tests, papers and projects. Thankfully, my professors believe in early in-class finals so I don't have to wait in line at the testing center. THANK YOU!

Anyway, today's closing social was the perfect break from all that's going on. In fat, my FHE group was the last to leave, we were enjoying ourselves that much.

At the very end, we were putting the chairs back in the loft and discovered a rack of old hats. We couldn't help it. We put on a couple and took a picture.

What a fun way to end a fun evening!

An Army of Little Cooks

    Happy Fourth of July!
I spent the weekend with my family in Boise. They flew over for my cousin's wedding and my sister and I drove up to see them. After church, all the cousins came over and we had a huge waffle dinner. My brother and I manned the irons while the little ones poured in the batter. It was such a fun evening. I can't wait to get home and spend all day every day with my family.

Sun on Sunday

We took a blanket to the park today and just relaxed on the grass.
It was lovely. I fell asleep and my sister read her book.

There's nothing quite like sunshine and sweet breeze. This is one beautiful world.

The Life Cycle of a Butterfly

Gotta Love Science!

We've been doing peer labs recently, where we teach different science lessons that would be found in an elementary classroom. Today we learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and made one on our paper plates.
        - Egg - marshmallow
        - Caterpillar - gummy worm
        - Cocoon - tootsie roll
       - Butterfly - cracker

Cute huh?

This science class has been a blast. I've learned a lot, but it hasn't been stressful at all because (1) we have fun lessons like these and (2) the teacher is super relaxed.
Shout out to Brother Pyper!

My Writer's Group - Our Common Ground

Every Friday, six other friends and I get together at the Library Commons in a writing group. We've been meeting for about a year now, we exchange chapters, give each other feedback and take a half hour to do a writing prompt. It started with just my friend Evee and I, but  slowly, we keep gaining more and more people.
We just set up a website for ourselves called Our Common Ground (because we meet in the Library Commons and because are all different, but we all love to write and that is our common ground. Drew (the one and only guy in our group) brought Jones Soda for us today and we had to take a picture.

Arts & Crafts at HANDS

I am in a Special Education class this semester. To pass the class I have to spend two and a half hours in a wheelchair, four hours in vision-impairment masks and five hours working with adults who have special needs. There are lots of places and ways to volunteer but I chose HANDS.

Every Wednesday, I go to the Hinkley Building and do arts and crafts with the adults wih special needs. Today we painted rocks.

Sarah, the girl I was working with told me where to paint it. She makes me so happy all she wants to do is make people laugh so she tells jokes and stories and tickles us.

Me, Sarah and her friend. What a fabulous group of happy people!
